Transferring Songs to a Computer (using the Motif and Motif ES's resampling capability)The easiest way to transfer a song from your Motif or Motif ES to a computer would be to simply connect the audio outputs of the instrument to your computer's sound card and record it into an audio recording or sequencing application. Of course in that case the quality of the audio you record will be dependent on the quality of your computer's sound card. An alternate approach is to record the instrument's audio output as an audio sample and then save this as an *.wav file for transfer to your computer In order to convert a song to a wav file you have to resample it - then convert just that audio sample to a .wav file. This requires that you have expanded your instrument with sample RAM and that you have a way to shuttle the data to your computer (SmartMedia Reader/Writer or USB mass storage device for the Motif ES or a SmartMedia Reader/Writer or SCSI device for the Motif). First thing – STORE your MIX setup and SAVE the Song to SmartMedia (or USB or SCSI mass storage device) before resampling it so you have a backup. You would create a mix to balance the instruments the way you like them. To record the Song to an audio sample:
To create the .wav file:
