motif xs8
Hi Mark: I am on this web site looking for help using my new XS8. I am an experienced musician. I have and play a Hammond B3 which I purchased new in 1970. Played a real pipe organ in church. I purchased a Yamaha PSR740 keyboard in 2000 and I really liked it; a real nice keyboard. Only a year later I upgraded to a Yamaha 9000 PRO, wow what a great keyboard. You couldn't ask for a slicker board, great organ sound, drum kits, right on the money brass and string sounds, I luv the 9000 PRO used it on gigs. I just upgraded to the Motif XS8 I have had it for 1 week.I though it would be a piece of cake to use just like my other great Yamaha boards, was I mistaken!!. I did my homework before purchasing this keyboard, I played one in a local music store read all of the literature on the XS8. I am now wondering if I made the rite move to purchase this expensive board. It is really, really complicated and is in know way easy to use. I have had it only a week. I have a feeling it will be many many weeks before I will be able to start enjoying all of the features. The manual that came with the board is horrible. I ordered from this web site a DVD tutorial which should have come with the keyboard but didn't. I hope this gets me up and running. This keyboard is very ,very, complicated and Yamaha dosn't tell you there is a giant learning curve. I am sure it is everything Yamaha says it is but it will take quite a while before this musician will be able to use it on a gig. Good luck to you!!
