I agree the Motif can be fairly fast at jotting down idea's, but using templates in ProTools makes it pretty quick too.

I, unfortunately, have a non-musical day job. But when I come home the first thing I do is fire up the system. That way, when I get to put my creativity hat on, it's there waiting.

However, it's hard to beat the quickness of a workstation. Heck, Yamaha has had the old QY (i forget the exact lettering) series that you could almost fit in your pocket for ever. You never no when inspiration is going to hit you. The quicker you get it down the better.
